Beware Of The Captain Script Part 01

DYNAMIC RAIN AND THUNDER'S
BEWARE OF THE CAPTAIN
DRAFT VERSION 8
OCTOBER 2006

SCENE 1

OPEN TO:

LOUD RANCHERO MUSIC PLAYS AS:

A line of Mexican cowboys and their mates stand to get into a dance club.

SCENE 1-A

INT. DANCE CLUB- NIGHT

A three piece band we will come to know as EL BANDA is on stage playing. The place is full
and the dance floor packed.

An OLD MOTHER and A YOUNG DAUGHTER wait, not dancing, not enjoying themselves but on the
look-out for a young man to ask the daughter's hand for a dance.

THE CAPTAIN looks across the floor at the Young Daughter, and though he already has two
women with him, he departs and walks up to the Young Daughter.

At the other end of the bar, near the stage a man named MICKEY TRIP (30) watches The
Captain. Mickey sets down his whiskey and approaches.

El Banda's set has ended and as the pack up their instruments they take special notice of
Mickey and The Captain.

The Captain has already moved in and now has his arms around the Young Daughter. Mickey
walks in and wedges himself between the two.

THE CAPTAIN
Hey!

MICKEY
You sick fuck.

THE CAPTAIN
Do I know you?

MICKEY
Why don't you tell this young woman what your real plans with her are?

The Captain realizes who Mickey is and why he is there.

THE CAPTAIN
You're early. You're meeting isn't until tomorrow.

MICKEY
I don't do meetings, punk. Let's walk to the pisser.

INT. DANCE CLUB- RESTROOM- NIGHT

The Captain enters first and finds a urinal. Mickey checks the place out.

THE CAPTAIN
Are you here to kill me? I was told men like you would be showing up soon.

MICKEY
You have a two hundred thousand dollar price tag on your head, you fucking pervert.

THE CAPTAIN
Two hundred thousand? Is that all the Angel could raise? I'm a little embarrassed for him.

MICKEY
Killing a bastard that has made a career of murdering young women is something I would do
for free.

THE CAPTAIN
No you wouldn't Mickey Trip.

MICKEY
You know me then? No probably not for free.

THE CAPTAIN
You don't do anything for free, do you? So how much to just leave me alone? To forget you
found me here? To never answer another request from the Angel?

MICKEY
To leave you alone? I want five hundred thousand, in cash, tonight. If that means we drive
all the way back to your mansion in Puerto Vallarta to get it, then that's what we're
gonna do.

THE CAPTAIN
We don't need to drive anywhere. There is an RV parked in the back. Meet me there in ten
minutes and you will have your five hundred thousand dollars.

The Captain finishes and walks to the door.

MICKEY
It's five hundred thousand or your head. Don't fuck with me.

THE CAPTAIN
You've caught me, Mickey. I think it's in my best interest to pay you off.

The Captain submits to Mickey's authority, smiles and walks out.

CUT TO:

EXT. DANCE CLUB- PARKING LOT- NIGHT

Mickey knocks on an all black RV. A vulgar man named PA-UL (33) steps out.

PA-UL
What the fuck do you want?

MICKEY
I'm looking for The Captain.

PA-UL
C'mon in you piece of shit.

MICKEY
Did you just call me a piece of shit?

PA-UL
And you can go fuck your mother too, asshole.

Mickey decides this is not the time for a fight and walks past PA-UL.

INT. RV- NIGHT

Mickey walks to the back of the RV to where The Captain and The Young Daughter sit at the
kitchen table, Mickey joins them. The Captain hands The Young Daughter a glass of
champagne. She smiles and then chugs it down as he hugs and kisses her. He then raises her
chin and points her face at Mickey.

THE CAPTAIN
This man was hired by an Angel of God to kill me. For two hundred thousand dollars he will
take my life and save yours. For five hundred thousand he will walk away and allow me to
continue with my little games that will certainly end in your death. What a scene where
evil comes against evil. You are lucky, my dear, that you do not speak English tonight.

MICKEY
Where's the money?

THE CAPTAIN
Perhaps a drink, first, yes? Join me in a champagne-

MICKEY
-I want the fucking money or I cut your head off just as I promised the angel.
I'll do it, I'll lop your fucking head off and put in a bag and then go and kick your
driver's ass.

THE CAPTAIN
Relax, relax, relax, Mickey. You're money will be along soon.

TWO MEN, EL PROFESSOR and BUTCHER JAMES walk onto the RV and down the hall past Mickey and
The Captain. Mickey's heart sinks, he knows now that it was a mistake to get on the RV. In
a moment of chivalry Mickey makes a decision.

MICKEY
Those two, huh? Alright little girl, let's get out of here.

Mickey grabs The Young Daughter's hand and tries to pull her away from The Captain. The
Captain grabs Mickey's forearm and forces him back down.

SATAN walks out of the back of the RV and approaches the table.

MICKEY
Ooh, fuck.

THE CAPTAIN
My Master wants to protect his investment in me. He wants me to continue.

Mickey struggles with The Captain until Satan places his hand on Mickey's shoulder.

SATAN
Relax Mickey. I would like to say that it is my exceeding pleasure to finally meet you in
person.

MICKEY
Yeah? Glad to hear it.

SATAN
Your wicked deeds have always been a special source of pleasure to me.

MICKEY
(getting nervous)
Sweet, so, where's your lapdog? Where's Martin Hess?

MARTIN HESS
Behind you.

Mickey looks back to see MARTIN HESS (60) wearing a black suit, black fedora and black
horn rimmed glasses standing at Mickey's only exit.

MICKEY
(to Satan)
I'm not getting off this RV, am I?

SATAN
Of course you will. Trust me.

MICKEY
(to The Captain)
One thing I can say is that you're lucky you ran into me first. When my brother Gary finds
you, you're one dead motherfucker.

Mickey stands to fight but Hess is on him fast, Hess' right hand attached to Mickey's
face, crushing it.

CUT TO:

EXT. A CROSSROAD IN NORTHERN MEXICO- NIGHT

The RV stops and Pa-ul throws out Mickey's body into the weeds. Pa-ul steps back in and
then tosses out the body of The Young Daughter.
Hess steps off and looks at the bodies.

PA-UL
Move ass old man or I'll leave you.

HESS
Leave me.

Pa-ul re-enters and the RV takes off.

Hess begins to walk away but disappears.

CUT TO:

EXT. A CROSSROAD IN NORTHERN MEXICO- DAY

A rented car pulls up to the same stop sign and takes off again. The coastal landscape is
barren. No homes, no cars just the ocean and mountains and desert.

INT. RENTED CAR- DAY

The car is occupied by four Americans. Driving is 30 year old DEWEY BEERS, and sitting
next to him is his 25 year old fiancee GRICEL LOYA.

In the backseat is Gricel's 20 year old sister JAZMINE and Jazmine's 24 year old best
friend GABE GILFOYLE-DEAN. Jazmine makes a call on her cell phone.

CUT TO:

EXT. DENVER, COLORADO- A SMALL RANCH HOME- DAY

JOE DRIVER the 43 year old stepfather and legal guardian of Gricel and Jazmine; who's also
an alcoholic from Georgia, gets in his beat up truck and backs out of the drive.

The youngest Loya sister, 18 year old LEIDY waves goodbye as the phone RINGS. Leidy goes
inside.

INT. A SMALL RANCH HOME- DAY

The phone continues to RING.

Leidy answers the phone.

LEIDY
Hello?

JAZMINE
Leidy, put Joe on.

LEIDY
He just left, Jaz.

JAZMINE
Ugh! When's he coming back?

LEIDY
He went to Vegas for the weekend.

JAZMINE
Ugh! When did he plan that?

LEIDY
I don't think there was a plan, I think he got fired and he's gonna try to score some
dough for the rent with his last paycheck.

JAZMINE
Ugh! (To Gricel) Joe went gambling!

Dewey chuckles.

GRICEL
He's your stepdad.

JAZMINE
(to Gricel)
Your's too. Leidy says Joe got fired and he went to win money for the rent.

Gricel looks at Dewey, Dewey nods meaning he will cover it.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
When Joe gets home you take all his money as soon as he gets drunk and go pay my cell
phone bill. I forgot to pay it before I left.

LEIDY
(to herself)
Yeah right.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
What was that? Don't mock me, Leidy, I can't be in Mexico without my phone. What if I got
a call for an audition?

Leidy mouthes "for porn".

LEIDY
(into phone)
Oh and thanks for taking Gabe to Mexico and not me.

JAZMINE
You and Gabe flipped a quarter fair and square, Leidy.

LEIDY
I'm you're little sister, Jazmine.

JAZMINE
Oh and Gabe's not important, Leidy? He's here right now, why don't you tell him that?

Jazmine hands the phone to Gabe.

JAZMINE
(to Gabe)
You talk to that brat.

Gabe takes the phone and gulps.

GABE
(into phone)
Uh, hello?

LEIDY
Hi Gabe.

GABE
Oh hi Leidy, how's it going?

LEIDY
Not bad Gabe, Jazmine's just being a jerk again.

A long awkward silence from Gabe.

SHOT: Leidy is waiting on the phone for Gabe to say something.

GABE
Uh, so everything is going good?

LEIDY
Yeah, you can put Jazmine back on, Gabe.

GABE
Oh, ok.

Gabe hands the phone back to Jazmine, who's rather upset she has to take off her
headphones.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Wanna say hi to Gricel?

Gricel turns and mouths no but Jazmine hands the phone over anyway.

GRICEL
(into phone)
Hi Leidy.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Hi Gricel.

GRICEL
(into phone)
Well gotta go.

Gricel hands the phone back to Jazmine.

Jazmine hangs it up and puts her headphones back on.

LEIDY
What a couple of bitches.

Leidy hangs up and pours herself a bowl of cereal.

CUT TO:

EXT. DESERTED HIGHWAY- DAY

Gabe pukes at the side of the road while Jazmine, Gricel and Dewey wait.

DEWEY
Is he gonna be OK?

JAZMINE
Maybe you shouldn't have made him drink sixty beers with you last night at the hotel bar,
Dewey.

DEWEY
Maybe you shouldn't have invited him on this trip.

GRICEL
Lay off, Dewey, he's her best friend, alright?

Dewey holds Gricel and squeezes her.

DEWEY
I am sorry, babe.

Dewey looks away and sees the approaching traffic coming from both directions.
Too many people would see what he really wants to do right now.

JAZMINE
Smile!

Jazmine holds up her cell phone to take a picture as Dewey looks back. Dewey hugs Gricel tighter for the picture.

JAZMINE
Pre-wedding jaunt into old Mexico, and in one month the two of you will be on your
honeymoon in-

DEWEY
-Paris.

Dewey hugs Gricel even harder.

JAZMINE
And of course someone's super great younger sister is gonna- bah-bah-bah be-bop down the
Paris streets right on with ya.

Dewey and Gricel don't say anything.

JAZMINE
Not taking me on that honeymoon?

They still say nothing.

JAZMINE
Well at least I managed this little trip to Mexico. Seeing the world one step at a time.
Good thoughts, that's what I'm all about.

Jazmine looks out at the landscape, and besides drought ridden plains there is not much
there.

JAZMINE
(to herself)
Right now I'm all about happy puppies and couples in love and big happy families.

Gabe runs back to the car.

DEWEY
You all done?

GABE
Oh, yeah, thanks a lot for stopping. Sorry about that.

DEWEY
We're late now, you know that?

GABE
Oh-uh?

Gabe looks down and then back up at Dewey to see if he's in a playful or scolding mood.

DEWEY
Just get in the car. I'm outta beer.

INT. DEWEY'S OFFICE- DAY

SUE
Oh No Mr. Beers, I'll find him, you don't worry about that.

DEWEY
I am worried Sue, when every time I call you have the same news for me which tells me
you're not doing shit to find The Captain.

SUE
Mr. Beers I am trying.

DEWEY
Let's find The Captain, Sue, or you better find a new job.

SUE
I will find The Captain, Mr. Beers-

Dewey nods a quick but dismissive "yeah" and hangs up.

INT. DEWEY'S OFFICE- DAY

The scenery is even more desolate than before. Dewey's car comes to a stop.

INT. DEWEY'S CAR- DAY

DEWEY
Well this is it. About the loneliest patch of Mexican highway I've seen yet. You fuckers
get out of my car.

GRICEL
Stop playing, Dewey.

DEWEY
No offense Gricel, but I've only been banging you cause you were the best thing I could
get without having to spend a lot of money.

GRICEL
Dewey, we're getting married. How can you say that to me?

DEWEY
I've got a real woman here in Mexico. I'm in love with her and she's the one I'm gonna
marry. Her name is Yauria Benavitez and she has everything I ever wanted in a woman. She's
the reason I go to Mexico every month-

SHOT: Gricel looks like she was just hit by a truck. Gabe nervously looks away. Jazmine is
listening to her headphones.

DEWEY
(Cont.)
-I told you Gricel not to come on this trip. Don't come to Mexico, I have work to do here,
but you whined and whined and the next thing I know you brought these two dummies and you
know what? You just never listen to me, so now you'll pay the consequences.

GRICEL
Dewey! Dewey no! Dewey.

DEWEY
(laughs)
Get the fuck out of here. I have to be somewhere and I can't show up with you three
assholes with me.

Jazmine takes off her headphones.

JAZMINE
What's up?

GABE
Uh, Dewey's kicking us out.

JAZMINE
Oh no way! Dewey what's up, man? Talk to me.

DEWEY
Jazmine, you fucking airhead, you can get out of this car right now or I can smack you and
toss you out.

JAZMINE
Oh my God.

GRICEL
He's serious, Jaz. Let's go.

JAZMINE
You rotten bastard, Dewey. You're going to abandon us here?

DEWEY
I told you I'd smack you if you don't get out right now.

GABE
Uh Jazmine, let's get out.

JAZMINE
And what are we supposed to do, Dewey?

DEWEY
You've been singing with you're fucking headphones on for the last eleven hours, why don't
you sing a song that makes you happy?

LS: The car pulls away, leaving Jazmine, Gabe and Gricel on the side of the road. Gricel
crumbles into herself crying. Gabe taps on Jazmine's shoulder.

GABE
Uh Jazmine?

JAZMINE
Yes Gabe, what is it?

GABE
Uh, yeah we really should have taken our bags out.

JAZMINE
Ugh! You bastard Dewey Beers!

Jazmine dials a number into her phone. It rings through to this message:

PHONE MESSAGE
We're sorry your service is temporarily suspended. Please wait while you're connected to a
representative.

She hangs up.

JAZMINE
Ugh!

INT. A CATHEDRAL- ABBY- DAY

Tranquilo walks in to find RALPH, A 50 year old, very normal looking man on his knees in
prayer.

TRANQUILO
They have killed Mickey Trip, your Grace. Will you please stop this? Do not go through
with tonight.

Ralph stays silent.

TRANQUILO
My Grace, this is not right!

Ralph raises his hand gently, hushing Tranquilo.

TRANQUILO
You must stop what it is you want to do.

RALPH
Sit Padre. Rest. Prepare yourself. We have visitors tonight.

Laughter comes from the back of the room. Tranquilo spins, he sees the door swing as if
someone just left.

TRANQUILO
Did you hear that? Do you know what you have brought into the house of God?

Ralph remains in prayer.

INT. A CHEAP MEXICAN MOTEL- ROOM- DAY

GARY TWO TRIPS and SELSO MARTINEZ, both in their early thirties, both American, are

GARY
Ready, Selso?

Selso stops packing and sits on the bed, he removes his glasses.

SELSO
I'm just not sure about this, Gary. I don't know if I want to go.

GARY
Hey, Buddy, the invitation was for both of us.

SELSO
I know, Gary it just doesn't make any sense to me.

GARY
Two hundred thousand dollars is all the sense I need.

SELSO
I agree with that, Gary. I just don't know why an angel would want to see either of us,
with how evil we are.

GARY
We're not evil, Selso. We just do what we have to do to get by. If that's not the
Christian spirit than I don't know what is.

SELSO
Well... we do hurt a lot of people, Gary.

GARY
Yeah, but it's ok.

Gary puts his arm reassuringly around Selso. Selso quickly falls for Gary's reasoning.

SELSO
Ok.

GARY
Ok. Let's go see what this fucking angel wants.

They grab their bags and step outside.

EXT. A CHEAP MEXICAN MOTEL- DAY

As Gary and Selso step outside of their motel room, another American, 32 year old LANE
DETREVILLE steps out of his, also with packed bags and a ten speed bicycle. Lane's laid
back in a t-shirt, swim trunks and flip flops. He quickly recognizes Gary and Selso.

LANE
Ola bros! Long time no communicado. How's life been treatin' ya?

Gary and Selso don't respond and blow Lane off, walking away to a primer colored old
camero.

GARY
God I hate that fag.

SELSO
You think he's going to see the angel too?

GARY
Why don't you ask him?

Gary didn't mean this literally, but Selso stops and turns back to Lane and yells:

SELSO
Hey Lane!

LANE
Yeah Selso?

SELSO
Are you going to see the angel?

LANE
I am indeed!

SELSO
We'll see you there!

LANE
Rightie-O!

SELSO
(to Gary)
You were right, Gary. He's going to see the angel.

abandonment of the facility he has been without care.

SHEILA, a 33 year old English woman, dressed in a cheap rat costume walks in the room.

SHEILA
(Cockney Accent)
Come on Senior Boxhead! We don't want to be the last one's there, we'll be laughing
stocks! The Angel is waitin' on us!

Boxhead stops beating his head against the wall and turns and grabs Sheila's paw.

SHEILA
That's more like it, Boxhead! You are me best mate!

Sheila and Boxhead walk out of the room arm in arm.

Wife and The Captain stroll away.

Sabastion looks away and around his office- guerrilla photos of The Captain are scattered
on Sabastion's walls.

Sabastion pulls the picture of his wife close to his heart.

CUT TO:

INT. A BEDROOM- NIGHT

The room is bright, modern and well kept with expensive furniture and a large bed.

YAURIA BENEVITEZ (24) walks past just out of the shower with a towel on and moves to her
closet. As her towel hits the floor the camera pans back to the bed to where an older man
dressed in an old black suit with a black fadora and large thick black framed glasses
stands watching her. He is MARTIN HESS.

MARTIN HESS
You never change, Yauria Benevitiz. Beautiful.

CU: Yauria's face as she dresses. She's not afraid, expecting Hess to have made an
appearance tonight.

MARTIN HESS
I am disappointed you'd want to continue with tonight, when I've made it clear I don't
want you to go. I've never understood why you love to disappoint me.

Hess walks towards her.

Yauria reaches high into her closet and grabs a crucifix. She turns quickly and Hess is
gone.

EXT. YAURIA'S APARTMENT- NIGHT

Yauria steps outside and to Dewey's rented car. He waits for her, leaning on the car door.

DEWEY
There is the woman that I love so much.

Dewey holds his arms open for a hug and Yauria slugs him in the shoulder.

YAURIA
And what took you so long, Dewey Beers?

DEWEY
You know doll, just got behind.

YAURIA
Mmm-hhh. You're always late for me, boy.

DEWEY
Hey I didn't want to be-

YAURIA
(mad)
Then why are you?

Dewey tries to hold her, she pushes him away.

YAURIA
I don't want to go together. Those fucking people like to talk too much.  They'll joke
about us and I don't want to hear that tonight.

DEWEY
Hey, who cares what they think of us. Ride with me. We haven't seen each other in so long.
I have really missed you.

YAURIA
Ha. Ha. Ha. You took too long boy and now we're going to be late.
I'll see you there.

Yauria gives Dewey a quick kiss and walks off.

CUT TO:

INT. A SMALL MEETING ROOM- NIGHT

LINDSEY AND PEG, two hitwomen from Mesa, Arizona stand in front of a group of ten lower
class men. One man sits down with a cup of coffee and a Mexican pastry and it should be
implied that the refreshments are the only reason the men are there.

PEG
Gentleman, I'm glad you could join us tonight, I'm Peg Slauganhop and this is my partner
Lindsey Mayor, we're hitwomen from Mesa, Arizona and we're in Mexico to kill The Captain.
We've invited you here as living targets for practice.

The men understand none of this. Peg turns back to Lindsey.

PEG
You ready for this?

LINDSEY
You ever seen me not ready?

Peg smiles as Lindsey turns to her right and loads a pistol.

Peg walks into the crowd and selects a young man named JUAN DABALOS, she ushers Juan to
stand up and then takes three steps away from him.

PEG
Juan Dabalos. Convicted of the 1996 murder of a twenty year old book store clerk-

BAM

Lindsey has fired and Juan Dabalos falls dead. Peg pulls another man up, who is now
terrified.

PEG
Jorge Aquinas Guerrero, released last month after serving ten years for the murder of his
mother, his grandmother and his-

BAM

Lindsey fires again. Jorge falls over. Peg quickly snatches up another terrified man-

PEG
Miguel Guadalupe Sanchez y Sanchez, convict-

BAM

Lindsey fires and Miguel falls dead.

LINDSEY
(to herself)
Ain't nobody as bad as me.

The other seven men in the room are speechless as Lindsey reloads.

PEG
You are bad, baby.

LINDSEY
The Captain doesn't know what he has coming.

The seven men stand up, and try to casually grab a pastry and leave the room.

BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!

Lindsey shoots and six men fall over dead. The seventh one stands scared.

LINDESEY
Tell The Captain that Lindsey Mayor is coming.

The man runs away.

LINDSEY
I'd like to see what's left of the next man that fucks with me.

PEG
There's no man that could even come close. When you kill The Captain, it's going to be a
slap in the face to the rest of these disgusting men who don't realize what a bad ass you
really are.

LINDSEY
I agree babe.

The two move closer, but Lindsey pushes Peg away.

LINDSEY
First, let's go see what this fucking angel has to say.

CUT TO:

EXT. AN EMPTY FIELD- DUSK

A campfire is roaring. Gary and Selso are lighting coke foils. Gary looks around at the
crowd. He acknowledges Dewey who sits on an overturned bucket, Dewey acknowledges back.

Dewey sits by himself with a beer in his hand. Sheila and Boxhead walk up, stares cross
between Gary and Dewey and Sheila. Dewey starts laughing at the sorry state of his
competition; he stops suddenly as Yauria walks up. She looks at Dewey and smiles. He
smiles back.

Loud Ranchero MUSIC PLAYS as a pick-up backs in. Three band members sit in the back
playing air instruments to the music. Each has a female groupie at his side. The members
are VICENTE, the leader who sings, TONY who plays accordion and RAUL who's on drums. They
are EL BANDA.

Lane steps in and grabs a chair right next to Yauria. He pats her leg and she returns the
gesture. Dewey notices this and does not like it.

El Banda cranks the music up.

Tranquilo walks out of the shadows and to the truck, he instructs them to turn the music
down. They do. Tranquilo walks into to the front of the group.

TRANQUILO
Is there anyone here that would like to join me in opening tonight up with a prayer? Or
perhaps even a psalm?

SHOT: Disdainful looks from the crowd.

Ralph moves in behind him, places a friendly hand on Tranquilo's shoulder.

RALPH
We can skip it, Padre.

Nearly everyone in the group says: Thank God. Ralph stands at the head of the group. He
unwraps a stick of chewing gum and toys with it as he speaks.

RALPH
First I want to say thank you all for coming. I know it was a long drive for some, like
you Dewey Beers, all the way from Colorado. Lane Detreville, God only knows where your
crazy adventures lead you.

LANE
Oh I was doing a little extreme ocean skydiving off the coast of New Zealand when you
called.

YAURIA
Wow.

LANE
It's rad, it's where you sky-dive onto a surfboard-

RALPH
(cuts him off)
-El Banda you had the shortest distance, what with playing just down the road, Gary, Selso
any trouble finding us?

GARY
None.

RALPH
Good, good, good. Yauria Benevitiz. I'm not sure which one of us is the angel, Yauria? You
are so beautiful.

Yauira smiles and looks away.

LANE
I'll vote for Yauria.

DEWEY
(loud and jealous)
I'm voting for Yauria!

TRANQUILO
(to Dewey)
Perhaps you should worry about the woman you just abandoned.

Dewey shrugs it off and drinks his beer, then Dewey notices Yauria is staring at him very
suspiciously.

RALPH
Let's get down to it. It has come time for The Captain to die.

SHEILA
Ooh Sir! Me and old Boxhead here was wondering if you were gonna be giving us dinner cause
we didn't eat before we "cames".

RALPH
(quietly to Tranquilo)
Who is that?

TRANQUILO
I don't know-

Tranquilo leafs through pages of invitations he sent.

RALPH
-Tranquilo, this was supposed to be a secret meeting.

SHEILA
Old Boxhead here would sure like some meat, but I'd settle for some tasty cheese.

TRANQUILO
We never invited them.

RALPH
I'm sorry miss, I have nothing to give you.

SHEILA
You don't have no cheese?

RALPH
Of course not.

SHEILA
Dang! Me's tummy is empty.

OS: Tamaledo! Hot Tamales! Tamales se vende!

A man who sells tamales walks in through the group carrying a small cooler filled with
tamales. He is TAMALEDO.

TAMALEDO
Tamaledo! Hot Tamales! Tamales se vende!

DEWEY
Yo! Over here.

Tamaledo walks over to Dewey who forks over some cash for a bag of tamales.

SHOT: Sheila and Boxhead patting their pockets, neither have any money.

RALPH
(starts aggravated)
It has come time, for The Captain to die. You've been gathered here as a contest of sorts.
Each of you has the capacity for evil to handle such a job, although some of you may be
more comfortable with the actual killing than others.

GARY
Well if you're really an angel, why don't you kill The Captain yourself?

Hess appears behind Gary and quickly steps past him towards Ralph.

MARTIN HESS
Yes Ralph, why don't you tell them why?

Dewey has made his way around the fire and next to Yauria. He offers her a tamale, she
turns it down.

DEWEY
(whispers)
It's Martin Hess.

YAURIA
Oh really?

MARTIN HESS
He can't kill The Captain because his God won't allow it. He can't because he is in the
wrong! He fell in love with a mortal woman. And he lost this woman to The Captain. And now
this angel of God wants revenge.

DEWEY
(to Yauria)
You want some beer?

Yauria takes Dewey's beer and full-necks it, he quickly takes it back.

RALPH
Martin you will not stop this.

LAUGHTER, the same female laughter heard in the church abby comes from the darkness. Both
Ralph and Hess acknowledge this.

MARTIN HESS
I will stop this, angel. My master wants The Captain to continue, for years to come.

Hess approaches Ralph.

RALPH
You really want to come any closer?

Hess looks down at his polished dress shoes and stops.

MARTIN HESS
What a new low for you, Ralph. A sadder group of assassins has never been seen. The wench
Yauria Benevitiz. Gary Two Trips and Selso Martinez, two feeble criminals who have never
had a pot to piss in.

GARY
Fuck you.

SELSO
Yeah!

GARY
We blow our cash on cocaine.

SELSO
And hot-ass strippers.

MARTIN HESS
EL Banda! Horndog idiots incapable of carrying a tune. Why Dewey Beers is the shining star of this group. You had quite a
round of applause in Hell this afternoon, Mr. Beers. Deserting three innocents to the threats of the world. Odds are
they're dead by now.

Yauria's eyes shoot to Dewey. She didn't know anyone accompanied him to Mexico.

DEWEY
(nervous)
I told ‘em not to come.

HESS
That you did.

DEWEY
(to Yauria)
Hitchhikers.

HESS
Lane Detreville-

Lane raises a beer and is about to speak but Sheila bursts in:

SHEILA
-Ay! You didn't say nuthin'‘bout me an' old Boxhead here.

Martin is surprised, confounded and a little afraid at the same time. He chooses to ignore
Sheila.

MARTIN HESS
I came to say this: It is not The Captain's time to die. Abandon this quest or answer to
me, assassins. You all know where you're going when you die, if you want to go now, press
on.

Hess disappears. Tranquilo pushes himself in front of Ralph.

TRANQUILO
Be gone Demon! I will have no more.

Ralph shoves Tranquilo out of the way.

RALPH
Two hundred thousand dollars for The Captain's head. Which of you will have that treasure?

Sheila jumps up and down and hugs Boxhead.

SHEILA
Two hundred thousand dollars! Boxhead! We'll be billionaires!

Lindsey and Peg walk into the middle of the crowd.

LINDSEY
Sorry we're late, we had a town hall meeting that went long.

RALPH
Not to worry, Lindsey, why don't you introduce yourself.

LINDSEY
Hi everyone I'm Lindsey Mayor and this is my partner Peg Slauganhop, we're hitwomen from
Mesa, Arizona to put an end to The Captain and to show you limp dick men that real power
in the world comes from strong women who can overcome all you bastar-

GARY
-Show us your big fucking tits, you sweet bitch!

Ralph hides a smile, Lindsey is horrified.

LINDSEY
How dare you speak to me that way?

GARY
C'mon lift that shirt up, Baby!

SELSO
Nipples, I wanna see some nipples!

Lindsey covers her bust with her arms.

VICENTE
Hey Gary! Maybe she has hair on her chest and that's why she won't show us.

Gary turns to Selso to comment on Vicente's stupid joke.

GARY
(quiet)
What the fuck is he talking about?

DEWEY
BOOBIES! BOOBIES! BOOBIES!

Dewey nudges Tamaledo and encourages him to do the same. Without knowing what he's saying
Tamaledo starts as well:

TAMALEDO
BOOBIES! BOOBIES! BOOBIES!

Dewey keeps chanting until Yauria smacks him in the arm. Lindsey is speechless and in
shock.

PEG
Let's just have a seat.

Peg puts an arm around Lindsey and they sit down.

RALPH
(to the crowd and smirking)
Any questions before you start out?

GARY
How do we find The Captain?

Selso nudges Gary, Gary looks and Selso tosses a marshmallow at Lane which splatters
across his head.

RALPH
Gary Two Trips, that's help I'm forbidden to give you, but you are all known for your
ability to find people.

SHEILA
(to Gary)
Just go home, mate! That money is mine and Boxhead's as pure as the driven snow.

Dewey gets into the act by chucking his tamale husk at Lane. Yauria smacks Dewey to get
him to knock it off.

RALPH
I have two hundred thousand dollars for the one that kills The Captain and hands me his
head.

DEWEY
Ha, I've never worked for so cheap.

YAURIA
Me neither.

RALPH
So, good luck.

YAURIA
See you around, Dewey.

DEWEY
Yeah, Doll.

As Dewey walks to his car he grabs Tamaledo, who was walking the other away.

DEWEY
Is it obvious that I'm in love with Yauria?

TAMALEDO
(speaks little English)
Como?

DEWEY
Tamaledo, you need a ride?

TAMALEDO
Si.

DEWEY
Hop in man, you want a beer? Oh, uh- quires un cerveza?

TAMALEDO
Oh si.

Dewey hands Tamaledo a beer and they both hop in Dewey's car.

Peg consuls Lindsey as Tranquilo offers her a thermos cup.

TRANQUILO
Here is some hot tea.

Lindsey takes it as Ralph puts an arm around Tranquilo and walks him away.

RALPH
Padre, very soon I will have justice for my Ariana.

TRANQUILO
Murder is not justice, your Grace. Can't you see this is a mistake?

RALPH
Grow up.

CUT TO:

EXT. THE CAPTAIN'S MANSION- NIGHT

A young woman, named ELENA MORENO looks at the stars. She walks inside.

INT. THE CAPTAIN'S MANSION- BEDROOM- NIGHT

Elena walks in to find The Captain, dressing for another dance club. She walks in and hugs
him from behind.

ELENA
You have to work again, tonight?

The Captain continues dressing.

THE CAPTAIN
Elena, my love. You know I have to work, so that I can provide for you.
You mean so much to me, Elaina. I would feel so bad to sit at home and not be working for
you.

ELENA
When will you give me a chance to work for you? Huh? EL Capitan?

THE CAPTAIN
Elena, you do too much for me, already. I couldn't live without you.

Elena swallows this and hugs him harder.

ELENA
I would die for you.

The Captain turns to her and kisses her. He stares into her eyes.

THE CAPTAIN
And I for you, Elena Moreno del Tigre, the most wonderful woman I have ever met.

Elena grabs his face and kisses him.

CUT TO:

EXT. A MEXICAN RESTAURANT- NIGHT

An old truck pulls up, Gricel, Jazmine and Gabe get out of the back and wave as the truck
leaves. Jazmine puts her arm around Gricel as they walk in. Gabe trails.

CUT TO:

INT. A MEXICAN RESTAURANT- NIGHT

Gabe, Jazmine and Gricel sit at a table. Gricel is out of it, having cried for the last
few hours. Gabe places a small wad of cash on the table.

JAZMINE
So that's it, huh? Well make it last, Gabe.

Gabe takes the money and heads to the counter to order food. Jazmine consuls her older
sister.

JAZMINE
Hey, if this was going to happen, at least it happened now. Dewey was a jerk anyway, I
always told you that, Gricel.

GRICEL
Jazmine, God I feel so alone. Do we have enough money for me to get wasted?

JAZMINE
Drinking is not the answer, sis. And we only have three dollars.

GRICEL
That was one nice thing about Dewey, he always had beer and money.

The Captain stands in a corner with Hess. Hess points Gricel out. The Captain moves across
the room to their table. He places his hand on Gricel's shoulder.

THE CAPTAIN
Forgive my interruption, but I saw you crying, do you need help?

GRICEL
We do.

THE CAPTAIN
What can I do for you?

JAZMINE
We were abandoned by her fiancee.

THE CAPTAIN
The bastard.

JAZMINE
We just need to get to a town-

The Captain disregards Jazmine and gently rubs his hands on Gricel's shoulders.

THE CAPTAIN
You don't know anyone in Mexico?

GRICEL
We're alone.

JAZMINE
We just need to get some money wired in, and then we can get back home.

The Captain sits next to Gricel, turns her whole body towards him.

THE CAPTAIN
My name is Edwin, but my amigos call me The Captain.

JAZMINE
(disdainful)
The Captain of what?

Gabe walks up and taps Jazmine on her shoulder.

GABE
Uh Jazmine?

JAZMINE
Yes Gabe, what is it?

GABE
We have enough for beans or rice but not beans and rice and I was just wondering which one
you wanted?

THE CAPTAIN
Beans? Amigos you have had a tough day, there will be much more than beans. Eat whatever
you want! The bill is on me. Relax, enjoy and may this night in Mexico be much better than
your day.

CUT TO:

INT. MEXICAN RESTAURANT- NIGHT

The Captain and Gricel dance. Jazmine is upset and stewing over this. Gabe taps her on the
shoulder again.

GABE
Uh, Jazmine? Uh, yeah I was just wondering if you wanted to danc-

JAZMINE
-Ooh! I don't trust this guy, Gabe. I mean what kind of Captain is he? Out there dancing
with my sister, when she just got so savagely dumped. What does he think he is? The
Captain of love?

Gricel comes to the table, she picks up a shot of tequila and downs it.

GRICEL
Jaz, I'm in love.

JAZMINE
You're drunk, Gricel.

GRICEL
Yeah, isn't he the best thing you ever saw?

JAZMINE
Gricel, we don't know this guy and he's spending all this money on us.

GRICEL
He gave me two thousand dollars to get home. We're gonna be ok.

Gricel holds out a thick wad of cash.

JAZMINE
Two thousand dollars! Gricel, what do you think he's gonna want in return for that?

GRICEL
I don't care.

Gricel runs back to the Captain.

Gabe goes to drink a tequila shot. Jazmnine grabs it in midair.

JAZMINE
What do you think you're doing?

GABE
Oh, ah.

JAZMINE
You're staying clean and sober, Gabe. I need you tonight.

A man comes up and asks Jazmine to dance. She waves him away. Another man comes right
behind the first and asks the same thing.

JAZMINE
I'm sorry! I'm with me espouso. ESPOUSO.

She hugs Gabe.

The second man walks away and another comes up.

JAZMINE
(pointing at Gabe)
ESPOUSO.

Men around the bar are all staring at Jazmine.

JAZMINE
We're getting out of here, Gabe.

Jazmine looks to the dance floor, Gricel and The Captain are gone.

CUT TO:

INT. MEXICAN RESTAURANT- LATER- NIGHT

Gabe and Jazmine stand nearly alone in the now empty bar.

GABE
Yeah maybe we should have taken the money from Gricel.

JAZMINE
Money is not as important as my sister, Gabe.

GABE
Well it's just that I guess The Captain never paid the bill.

Jazmine looks over to the bar to a very SUSPICIOUS HUSBAND AND WIFE who own the place.

JAZMINE
Maybe if I flirt with him, he'll let us go without paying the bill.

Gabe shrugs in agreement, Jazmine bats her eyes at the man.

When the Suspicious Wife notices Jazmine is looking their way and potentially at her
husband, she quickly puts her arm around him.

JAZMINE
Ugh!

CUT TO:

INT. MEXICAN RESTAURANT- LATER- NIGHT

Jazmine washes dishes as Gabe mops the floor behind her.

JAZMINE
My damn nails. Ugh! I knew we shouldn't have come to Mexico.

The SUSPICIOUS WIFE sets down another stack of dishes and walks away.

JAZMINE
Ugh! Ok, dishes Gabe, I have a plan.

Gabe takes over at the sink as Jazmine storms out of the kitchen.

INT. BAR- OFFICE- NIGHT

Jazmine steps into the empty office and sees a phone. She rushes over to it and makes a
call.

CUT TO:

INT. LEIDY'S HOUSE- LEIDY'S BEDROOM- NIGHT

The phone RINGS, Leidy picks it up.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Hello?

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Leidy, I need your help. Dewey abandoned us and then Gricel ran off with a guy named The
Captain. Gabe and I are stuck in a town with no money, no food and no way to get home.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Are you fucking drunk?

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Have I ever been drunk?

LEIDY
(into phone)
Oh my God. Dewey abandoned you. How are we going to get you home?

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Sell everything Gricel owns, I'm going to find her. I'll call you back as soon as I can.

Jazmine hangs up the phone quickly as the Suspicious Wife walks in.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Jaz? Jaz?

SUSPICIOUS WIFE
That was not a local call was it?

JAZMINE
Ugh! No. I called my sister back home in Colorado.

The Suspicious Wife bends down and comes back up with two paint cans and a roller.

JAZMINE
Okay, Seniora, I'm not painting your bar. Here's the deal, we stopped in here tonight
because we were abandoned by my sister's fiancee. Within ten minutes of being in this
place my sister was picked up by some bastard named The Captain and now I have no idea
where my sister is.

SUSPICIOUS WIFE
EL Capitain?

JAZMINE
That's the dude!

SUSPICIOUS WIFE
Mija, I have seen many women leave this bar with El Capitain, and then we never see them
again.

CUT TO:

INT. THE CAPTAIN'S MANSION- MASTER BEDROOM- NIGHT

Elena lays in bed. The Captain kisses her shoulder and wakes her.

ELENA
I've missed you.

THE CAPTAIN
The time has come for you to do something for me.

ELENA
Anything. You know I would do anything for you.

THE CAPTAIN
The job I have, is not a pleasant one.

ELENA
Will you go with me?

THE CAPTAIN
Forgive me, my love, I cannot.

ELENA
What do I do?

THE CAPTAIN
You are to leave with Mr. Hess. He's an old and very trusted friend.

Hess stands in the doorway.

ELENA
But what will you be doing?

Hess steps into the room.

MARTIN HESS
Elena, it's time to go.

Elena gets out of bed, Hess has grabbed clothes from the closet. Hess leads Elena out of
the room and into the hall. Gricel is slumped down on the ground, drunk, her head leaning
against the wall. Elaina stares at her as they pass and then she realizes what is
happening.

The Captain steps into the hall and watches Elaina leave, he bends down and picks Gricel
up and leads her into the bedroom.

CUT TO:

EXT. BAR- MORNING

The Suspicious Wife hands Gabe two tin foiled wrapped burritos and a few pesos. She kisses
Gabe on the cheek.

SUSPICIOUS WIFE
I wish I had more to give, this will be a long walk for you.

She hands Gabe a slip of paper.

SUSPICIOUS WIFE
(to Jazmine)
Here is the address, speak to Sabastion. He is a good man. He will help you find your
sister.

BAR OWNER
Vayo Con Dios!

Gabe and Jazmine take off walking.

The Bar Owner has a glazed look over his eyes and a big smile on his face as he watches
Jazmine leave.

The Suspicious Wife smacks him in the arm.

CUT TO:

EXT. SABASTION'S OFFICE- DAY

Sabastion's new red pick-up sits outside.

INT. SABASTION'S OFFICE- DAY

Sabastion sits at his desk. A half eaten sandwich to his left and a steaming cup of coffee
to his right. Gary and Selso sit across from him. Gary lights up a coke foil.

SABASTION
You can't smoke that in here.

Gary lights it anyway. Sabastion turns on a small desk fan.

SABASTION
I know of this man you seek. The Captain. But finding him, that's not an easy thing
to do.

GARY
We'll give you ten thousand dollars. For food, a vehicle and you as our guide. You lead us
to The Captain and wait outside. We do the rest. Yes or no, are you in or out?

SABASTION
Where is the ten thousand?

SELSO
You'll get it when we the job is done.

SABASTION
(laughs)
No, I'm sorry amigos. I would need the money up-front.

GARY
You don't trust us?

SABASTION
(laughs harder)
No I do not.

SELSO
(to Gary)
Motherfucker.

SABASTION
Why though, do you want this man? Why do you want to find The Captain? When I said I knew
of him, I should have said I knew him very well. He stole my wife years ago. I lost my leg
looking for him.

Sabastion puts his right leg on the desk and lifts his pantleg, to show an aluminum
prosthetic. Sabastion pulls the pantleg back down and turns his back on Gary and Selso to
point out the wall behind him that is cluttered with photos of The Captain.

SABASTION
Years I've spent, collecting data, photographs, news clippings, maps to find The Captain.
Amigos I am your man, I am the only man in Mexico who could walk you right up to The
Captain's front door. Everything you need to know is right here in my files, you just need
to bring me the ten thousand dollars.

As Sabastion turns around Gary and Selso are gone, they move in at him from the sides and
roll him.

SHOT: Gary pulls the keys from Sabastion's pocket, then pulls out a cell phone.

SHOT: Selso steals Sabastion's files.

SHOT: Gary takes Sabastion's hat.

SHOT: Selso takes Sabastion's sandwhich.

CUT TO:

EXT. STRIP CLUB- DAY

Dewey and Tameledo walk out across the parking lot and to Dewey's car as they are about to
get in Yauria walks in from the side.

YAURIA
So this is what you do? You spent all night looking at those women. Que malo Dewey Beers.
You were supposed to be working. You have to kill The Captain.

DEWEY
Well I was waiting for you, doll, Yauria Benevitez the great love of my life.

YAURIA
(smiling)
Oh si? So now I am here with you, Dewey Beers, and what are you going to do with me?

DEWEY
You want to make out or something?

YAURIA
Not here.

Tamaledo realizes he's a third wheel and sees a few men entering the strip club.

TAMALEDO
Tamaledo! Hot Tamales! Pollo! Porque! Carne!

Tamaledo rushes in for the sale, Dewey grabs Yauria's hand and walks with her.

DEWEY
I know where The Captain is, close to Puerto Vallarta.

YAURIA
You're very smart, Dewey Beers.

DEWEY
So you're ready to kill him? Together?

YAURIA
Together with you I am.

DEWEY
Well Yauria, you're very pretty. You're the prettiest thing I have ever seen.

Martin Hess appears.

MARTIN HESS
And that's how she kills, Mr. Beers. The two of you didn't take me seriously. The Captain
is to be left alone.  Consider it you're second warning.

Hess pulls Yauria's hand from Dewey and kisses it, then walks away and into the strip club.

YAURIA
Does he scare you?

DEWEY
Well he would, but what I have found out about Mr. Hess is that a little holy water can go
a long way.

Dewey pulls out a small clear bottle filled with water.

YAURIA
You are smart.

Yauria puts her arm across Dewey's shoulder and stares at him.

DEWEY
Whoa. You're eyes. They are so beautiful.

Dewey stares at her and she stares back at him until Dewey has to look away.

DEWEY
Yeah, so I'm really in love with you Yauria and I want to spend my whole life-

Dewey stops as Lane walks up.

LANE
Yo guys, what am I interrupting?

YAURIA
Nothing have a seat, I was just leaving.

LANE
Looks like we're all on the trail to Puerto Vallarta.

Lane sits at the table and puts his arm around Yauria.

LANE
(in Spanish)
You get better looking every time I see you.

She quickly stands.

YAURIA
Excuse me I have to go. Good luck.

LANE
(to Dewey)
Growwwl! Are you on that or what?

Dewey doesn't answer him.

LANE
Yeah, yeah. SO how do you get your information? See I'm trying this whole organic way of
tracking the Captain down, you know getting in to the side villages and talking to the
locals. It's been working out so far. What do you do?

DEWEY
I don't speak Spanish, I just have an office that finds-

LANE
-Corporate assassinations, huh? Selling out to the man.

Tamaledo walks up with an empty cooler.

TAMALEDO
No mas tamales. Es todo.

DEWEY
Let's get out of here, Tamaledo.

Dewey gets up and puts his arm around Tamaledo and leads him after Yauria.

DEWEY
I'm in trouble, Tamaledo. Yauria Benevitiz is everything I ever wanted.
I don't know if you have ever felt this way, that a woman could make you so happy the rest
of your life would be a miracle if you just had her by your side. The feeling is awesome.

TAMALEDO
(in Spanish)
May I have a ride to the bus stop so I can go home to my wife and my children?

DEWEY
(not understanding)
Well, Puerto Vallarta's a hike from here. We better hit it, amigo.

CUT TO:

INT. LAS VEGAS HOTEL ROOM- DAY

The TV flickers, Joe sits on the bed in his underwear with his head in his hands, empty
beer cans on the floor and a cigarette in his mouth. The phone RINGS, he answers.

JOE
(into phone)
Good morning.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Hi Joe, win anything yet?

JOE
I lost it all.

LEIDY
(not surprised)
Really?

JOE
I got ten dollars plus the gas money to get back home. I even runned out of cigarettes
after this one. How are things at home? You minding your bed time?

LEIDY
Of course, you know me, Joe. Good luck out there.

JOE
Something will change, Leidy. It can't be bad forever.

Joe hangs up the phone and resumes his depressed position.

CUT TO:

INT. SABASTION'S OFFICE- DAY

Sabastion lays on his floor still passed out, Jazmine stands over him.

JAZMINE
Dude? Are you okay? Dude? Dude!

She gently kicks him, Sabastion leaps up in a panic.

SABASTION
My head! Where are those bastards at? Oh! My head! I think I have a concussion. You
bastards!

Sabastion wobbles as he stands up. He pats his pocket.

SABASTION
My wallet!

He notices his office has been cleared out of his files. Every map and picture he had on
the wall behind him is gone.

SABASTION
My files! Ten years of work! My entire career!

Sabastion nearly faints, he sits down and sees his sandwich is gone.

SABASTION
My sandwich! Bastards!

JAZMINE
...I'm sorry to have just walked in, but I was told you could help us. We're looking for
The Captain. He took my sister last night and I'm worried I'll never see her again.

SABASTION
Who are you?

JAZMINE
I'm Jazmine, and this is my best friend, Gabe Gilfoyle-De-

Sabastion is obviously taken with Jazmine. She has just become the first reason he has had
in ten years to go after The Captain.

SABASTION
(cutting Gabe's name off)
-my name is Sabastion Solomente. I am a good man. If you truly lost your sister to The
Captain then we must leave this minute or she will not survive.

Jazmine stays silent, her mouth drops then she holds her hand up for a high five from
Gabe. It takes Gabe a second to notice this, then he high fives her.

JAZMINE
We have no money to pay you, and I'm off limits, but if you could help us, I would more
than pay you back, dude. My little sister is raising money right now, and I bet we could
give you like five hundred bucks or something.

SABASTION
What luck! Five hundred dollars is my fee for helping you!

JAZMINE
Score! Right on! Can I use your phone?

SABASTION
Anything!

Sabastion slides the phone on his desk over.

JAZMINE
It's not local, is that ok?

SABASTION
I said anything.

JAZMINE
Cool, yeah just put it on my bill.

Jazmine calls Leidy.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Hey, can Joe help?

INT. LEIDY'S HOUSE- DAY

LEIDY
(into phone)
He lost it all, so he's probably hooking by now the freaking dumb drunk hillbilly.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Show him some respect, Leidy, he stayed with us when Mom bailed and we're not even his
kids, you're his favorite anyhow.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Yes Mother.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Right now I wish we had a mother. How is selling Gricel's stuff coming?

INT. LEIDY'S HOUSE- GRICEL'S BEDROOM- DAY

Leidy steps into Gricel's bedroom.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Oh, you mean the goldmine of crap she has? Let's see what I could sell Jazmine? She has a
closet full of cheap worn out clothes (looks out the blinds to the driveway) a 1985 junker
without a transmission and a CD collection I might get fifteen bucks for. When are you
gonna admit we're poor?

JAZMINE
(into phone)
I am not...poor. I didn't want to do this- but go through my address book and see how much
you can get. Tell the guys anything they could give you would really mean a lot to me-
ooh, no say I'd do anything if they could help me out, but you know that really doesn't
mean "anything".

LEIDY
(into phone)
You're gonna let me look in you're address book?

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Hello! This is an emergency, Leidy. Gricel is gonna die. Yes I think for this time only
you would be able to look through my address book and call all the guys that hit on me.

LEIDY
(into phone)
And if any of them want to take me out?

JAZMINE
(into phone)
Yuck, go ahead, chic.

LEIDY
(into phone)
I'll do it. Is there a number I can call you back at?

JAZMINE
(to Sabastion)
Dude, do you have a cell phone?

SABASTION
Of course!

He laughs as he goes to grab his phone from his pocket, then realizes Gary and Selso stole
it. He stops laughing.

JAZMINE
(into phone)
I'll call you back. I'm counting on you, Leidy. You've always been the brainy one, so
don't let me down now.

Jazmine hangs up.

LEIDY
(into phone)
Brainy one?

Leidy sits the phone down and isn't sure if this was a compliment or not.

CUT TO:

EXT. A SMALL CAFÉ- DAY

Ralph and Tranquilo sip coffee. Ralph reads a paper as Tranquilo reads a mass book and
practices saying it silently.

Hess appears in a chair next to Ralph.

MARTIN HESS
She must have meant a lot to you, Ralph. What a woman Ariana was. Have you seen her
lately? Deformed, deranged, an idiotic maniac. What work The Captain did to her.

RALPH
(not looking away from his paper)
Normally I try to keep my composure, Martin. You know that. But you are pushing me.

Hess picks up Ralph's coffee. He sips it as he turns his attention to Tranquilo. Tranquilo
avoids Hess' gaze. Hess smiles as he sits the coffee down.

MARTIN HESS
The blood of your assassins will be on your hands, Angel.

Hess walks off. Ralph stays silent. A waiter brings in two plates of food.

TRANQUILO
What we are doing is not right.

RALPH
Yeah.

Ralph picks up his coffee to sip it, he stops suddenly and pours it to the concrete- it
spills out as blood.

RALPH
Eat up, Padre. We have a long day.

TRANQUILO
I'm going to throw up, your Grace.

Tranquilo steps away. Ralph goes back to his paper. He is joined at the table by ARIANA
the woman Ralph once loved so deeply. The camera stays LOW on Ariana, never showing her
face. She puts her arm around Ralph, and after getting no response, she LAUGHS, and it is
the same laughter we have heard before.

ARIANA
Just the two of us alone.

Ralph briefly glances at her but has to look away.

ARIANA
I still love you, Ralph. One day you'll see that I haven't changed all that much.

The hammer of a gun CLICKS.

RALPH
Do you have a loaded gun pointed at my crotch, Ariana?

ARIANA
How could you think that (she laughs) about me?

Tranquilo walks up wiping off his mouth.

TRANQUILO
She has a gun, my Grace.

Ralph flips the table over, Tranquilo jumps in for the gun. Ariana wrestles with him until
Tranquilo pulls the gun from her.

ARIANA
I will be back, Ralph, you can count on it.

Ariana takes two steps and trips over the table. She gets up and runs.

Ralph calmly stands and drops a handful of bills on the ground.

RALPH
Let's get back to work, Padre.

CUT TO:

EXT. A CHEAP MOTEL- DAY

Sabastion's new red truck is parked out front.

INT. A CHEAP MOTEL- DAY

Selso sifts through Sabastion's files which lay in a huge pile on the floor. Gary smokes a
foil.

SELSO
Half of this shit is ten years old. It's garbage, Gary.

Selso throws the papers in his hand down and kicks the pile. A map remains on top. Gary
stops smoking and leans forward for a closer look.

GARY
Let me see that one.

Selso hands Gary over the map. Gary studies it and then takes a hit on his foil.

GARY
How far is Puerto Vallarta?

SELSO
Fucking long way, probably, I don't know.

GARY
We're gonna need some money.

SELSO
We don't have any money. We spent it all on cocaine again, Gary.

GARY
Selso, what do we always do when we don't have any money?

SELSO
We rob people.

GARY
That's right. So what are we going to do now?

SELSO
I don't know.

Gary shakes his head at Selso's ignorance and walks to the bathroom avoiding the conversation.

SELSO
(worried)
What are we going to do, Gary? Tell me, Gary! I can't figure it out! I'm sorry, I'm so
dumb and I'm not smart like you, Gary!

Gary shuts the bathroom door.

SELSO
Great! Now I'll never know what we're gonna do.

CUT TO:

EXT. SABASTION'S OFFICE- DAY

Sabastion escorts Jazmine and Gabe to the front of his office building.

SABASTION
You are in luck, my new friends, I just purchased a brand new truck! We will ride in
style, in luxury! Heated leather seats, six speaker surround sound, cruise control,
navigation. This truck will take us right to The Captain's front door!

Sabastion notices that his new truck has been stolen. He pats his pockets to find his
keys. They're gone.

SABASTION
Bastards!

Sabastion raises the hood on a white junker. He connects the battery, gives Gabe, who's in
the driver's seat, the thumbs up. Gabe cranks the engine and after sputtering and acting
like it was going to die again, it starts.

SABASTION
(to Jazmine)
I can go to my bank. I don't have much, I just bought that new truck, but what I have I
will spend, Jazmine. You have Sabastion Solomente's word.

JAZMINE
Whatever we spend, I promise I will pay you back.
Let's just keep the five hundred as a goal.

SABASTION
If you truly love your sister, we must move quickly.

JAZMINE
Yeah we do! Let's go!

Jazmine slams the hood on the car and crushes Sabastion's hand. He SCREAMS and goes down
to one knee.

CUT TO:

INT. A SMALL CLOTHING STORE- DAY

A YOUNG SALES WOMAN stands behind the counter looking at a magazine.

Sheila and Boxhead burst in.

SHEILA
Okay miss! Me's and old Boxhead here is hungry. Put all your money on the counter!

The Young Woman quickly complies.

SHEILA
That's it miss. Oh Boxhead, we'll be eating in no time.

Sheila hugs Boxhead and jumps up and down.

SHEILA
Cheese, wonderful cheese! Me's gonna buy some tasty cheese!

Gary walks in ready to rob the joint, sees the money on the counter and picks it up. He
looks Sheila and Boxhead up and down and laughs. Sheila's heart sinks.

SHEILA
Sir, won't you leave us just a few pesos, I'm so hungry.

Selso walks in, pumped up and ready to rob, he sees the robbery has already gone down and
calms himself.

SELSO
Fuck you.

Gary puts a few bills back on the counter.

SHEILA
Oh thank you, kind sir, it might buy me a bit of cheese.

Gary takes the bills back and laughs. He and Selso walk out.

Sheila looks over to the Young Woman who is now on the phone with the police.

SHEILA
Please kind miss, don't call the police. Me's just a poor old filthy rat with an empty
tummy.

YOUNG WOMAN
No me gusta those filthy rats.

The Young Woman stays on the phone.

SHEILA
Well Boxhead, I guess it's prison for us. We'll just be laying around all day with nothing
to do but eat. Eat! It's prison for us, Boxhead!

Sheila jumps up and down again hugging Boxhead.

CUT TO:

EXT. SABASTION'S BANK- DAY

Gabe and Jazmine wait outside. Elaina Moreno, dressed professionally like a banker walks
past. She smiles at Gabe, he smiles back.

Jazmine jabs Gabe in the side.

JAZMINE
Dude, let's put the sex drive in neutral, OK?

Gabe quickly looks away from Elaina and stares at the ground.

Sabastion walks up, his right hand bandaged and broken. His left hand holding an envelope
stuffed with cash.

JAZMINE
I feel so bad about your hand, dude.

SABASTION
Es no problema, mija. We got money now, let's go get your sister.

JAZMINE
Should I drive?

SABASTION
No, no, no. I got it.

JAZMINE
Okay.

Jazmine takes a seat in the passenger side. Sabastion grimaces as he opens the car door
with his smashed right hand.

JAZMINE
Let me help you, dude.

Jazmine leans over and pops the car into neutral, it rolls back and over Sabastion's leg,
tearing him to the ground.

CUT TO:

INT. SMALL CLOTHING STORE- DAY

A POLICE OFFICER speaks with the young woman behind the counter. He scribbles a few notes
as she cries and lays her head on his shoulder. The Police Officer removes her head,
closes his notebook and walks over to Sheila and Boxhead, laughs and walks out.

CUT TO:

EXT. A ROADSIDE TACO STAND- DAY

Lane sits next to the stand with a large plate of nachos with extra cheese and talking to
Elena, telling her all about his search for The Captain. He's doing his best to impress
her.

ELENA
And is this what you are going to use on the Captain?

Elena holds Lane’s sword up.

LANE
That's right little lady.

Lane pulls his thumb across his neck.

ELENA
Good luck, but you probably don't need much luck.

LANE
No I do pretty good. I mean I only go after the real bad guys.

ELENA
And you don't think The Captain can be good? You don't think he has a heart?

Lane has stopped listening and now watches Dewey pull into the parking lot with Yauria and
Tamaledo in the car.

LANE
Yeah I better get going. I'm not gonna finish these nachos with extra cheese, you want
them?

ELENA
Thank you.

Lane hands them over and slides Elena a quick kiss. As Lane puts on his headphones and
turns to get on his bike Elena draws a knife and is about to stab Lane when Sheila and
Boxhead tackle her for the nachos.

Hess appears and pulls them off her. Hess takes the nachos and tosses them, Sheila and
Boxhead run after them.

ELENA
I've failed. He got away to go and kill The Captain.

HESS
Don't worry, you'll get another chance.

CUT TO:

EXT. SABASTION'S BANK- DAY

Sabastion lays on the ground, his aluminum leg in his hand, twisted.

Jazmine and Gabe stand over him.

JAZMINE
I'm so sorry about your leg, dude.

CUT TO:

EXT. ROADSIDE TACO STAND- DAY

Dewey and Tameledo are eating lunch. They sit at a table outside. Tamaledo takes a bite of
a taco and is disgusted. He leans to his side and spits it out.

Yauria walks in and joins them.

YAURIA
And what did you buy for me, Dewey Beers?

DEWEY
Hey doll, want a beer?

YAURIA
Of course.

Dewey hands her a cold beer from a bucket. She swigs as Tamaledo pulls her to him and
whispers in her ear, pleading with her in Spanish, his pleading brings him to tears.

DEWEY
Hitting on my girl, Tamaledo, you dog.

Tamaledo hugs onto Yauria now.

DEWEY
Tamaledo, hey man, I said she's my girl.

Tamaledo lets Yauria go and wipes his eyes.

DEWEY
(To Yauria)
What did he say?

YAURIA
He says he misses his wife and children. He wants to go to his village to hold them again.

DEWEY
Good man Tamaledo. Better man than me.

YAURIA
What does that mean, Dewey Beers?

DEWEY
Nothing.

YAURIA
MMMHuh.

A waiter brings over a plate of shrimp.

YAURIA
Camarons, it's my favorite.

DEWEY
Help yourself.

YAURIA
Thank you.

Yauria eats.

DEWEY
The Captain's place is actually a bit north of Puerta Vallarta. About four hours from
here.

YAURIA
I already know. I already found out where he lives.

DEWEY
You know?

YAURIA
See how smart that I am?

DEWEY
You are smart. You're everything for me, Yauria.

YAURIA
Wow. So what else did you have to say to me?

DEWEY
Give me your hand.

She puts her hand out. Dewey grabs it and holds it.

DEWEY
Yauria, I've got a lot of money. I really don't care if I find The Captain or not. I've
been fucking people over for cash since I was eighteen. I'm loaded. Why don't we just
forget The Captain and spend some time together?

YAURIA
Ha, ha, ha. Lo siento Dewey Beers, before you sit down you have to dance first. Asta
lauego. I'll see you soon, boy.

DEWEY
I can't wait.

Yauria walks off, Dewey watches and turns back to her chair, Martin Hess now sits in her
place.

MARTIN HESS
You're smart to give this up, Mr. Beers, but if you want Yauria Benevitiz at your side,
you should have been more convincing. You know I'll kill her if she gets close enough to
The Captain. You have seen me kill before.

DEWEY BEERS
I'd kill The Captain just to piss you off, Hess.

MARTIN HESS
I'm only giving an old acquaintance advice-

DEWEY
-And I'm only going to smash this bottle of beer across your head.

MARTIN HESS
Yauria's quite a woman. See the man at the counter? It would give me no pleasure if a
predator like him was able to feel just what a woman she was.

A savage looking younger man dressed in white orders food. He is EL PROFESSOR.

DEWEY
El Professor.

MARTIN HESS
You know that animal would like to taste her.

Dewey tries to smack Hess in the face whith beer bottle, Hess grabs the bottle and stops
Dewey.

MARTIN HESS
Look behind you.

Dewey glances back to a deranged man walking in circles in the parking lot, clenching his
fists over and over. He is BUTCHER JAMES.

DEWEY
Butcher James.

MARTIN HESS
You know he'd tear her apart. You've always been smart, Dewey. Leave this alone. Leave The
Captain alone.

Hess walks away. Tamaledo is petrified with what he has seen. Dewey puts his arm around
him and swigs his beer
